What is sustainability?
“Understanding how to meet the needs of the present without compromising the needs of future generations to meet their own needs”. Brundtland Commission 1987
Sustainability works by encouraging businesses and individuals to keep an eye on environmental, social, and human impact for the long-term, rather than on short-term achievements. It influences them to consider more factors than simply the immediate profit or loss involved. On this idea, companies and people altogether have committed to sustainability goals like achieving zero-waste packaging for a month or a year or maybe cut out the single use plastic items from their lives.
Besides the examples above there a ton of ways for us to have an impact on sustainability, which consider of switching everyday use items to more eco ones by changing the materials used to manufacture them. For example, switch a plastic water bottle with a refillable one made of glass, plastic straws with metal ones, plastic toothbrushes with bamboo ones or supermarket plastic bags with RPET ones.
In an attempt to make our world a better place, to educate and bring some more information to our consumers, employees and partners about the “better choice” in sustainable materials we decided to start the “Sustainability diaries”. We will constantly post articles on our blog with the best materials we can switch to in order to lend a helping hand on this environmental issue.
